In "Great" Britain Christians can no longer foster or adopt children

British Prime Minister David Cameron has supported a court ruling that went against prospective foster parents who would refuse to teach their foster children that homosexual relations were equal to marriage. British society is not a tolerant society.

  1. Your report is wilfully wrongheaded at best, though since I am something of a jaundiced cynic I suspect it is deliberate, and therefore worse.

It is not true that this court ruling prevents christians from adopting children. Let me say that again, just in case you didn't catch it: it is not true that this court ruling prevents christians from adopting children. Anyone who says the contrary is either misinformed, or can't read, or in bad faith. Mostly the latter.

However, as someone once said, 'The truth will set you free.'

If you are interested in the truth (though given the tone of the original posting I suspect you are not, and prefer sterile posturing) then let me simply say that the ruling was against the adoption of a child by a couple whose openly-advocated life stance advocates hate. Exactly the opposite of christianity as I understand it. Would you in all charity wish to see a child adopted by (say) the Westborough Baptish Church? Or to take another parallel example, but from outside the faith- by Osama Bin Laden jihadists?

    Honest replies welcome.

  2. I am very open to the truth. Please refer me to the evidence of hate. Perhaps I have not taken enough effort to find out the true attitude of this couple. If I find the evidence convincing I shall repudiate my post.

As you say, no one wishes to promote hate, least of all Christians who are called to love their neighbours, be they friends or enemies. We are called to love all men and women, even if they publicly live in a manner that is objectivel sinful. To refer to deeds as sinful is not hate but to desire the conversion of the person committing the sinful acts (and I am carefully avoiding calling the persons concerned sinners as that judgement must be left to God alone, even though we may rightly judge the actions as sinful.)

  3. Isn't this the prime minister who said, "Thank you, you've really made us sit up and think" to the Holy Father at the end of His Holiness's visit to the UK?

  4. To Richard Brown:

Do you also think that parents should not tell their children that stealing is wrong as that is hateful towards thieves?
Do you also think that it is wrong for parents to tell their children that lying is wrong as that is hateful towards lairs?
Do you also think that it is wrong for parents to tell their children that murder is wrong as that is hateful towards murderers?
Probably not. So why is it hateful to say that you think that sex between two people of the same sex is wrong?
