Ordinations of former Anglican Bishops set
As Damian Thompson reports, the dates mentioned in my previous post have proved to be correct: Andrew Burnham, John Broadhurst and Keith Newton will be ordained to the diaconate on January 13th and to the priesthood on 15th. According to Friends of the Ordinariate, all are welcome. I hope it's packed Cathedral. I should love to have been able to attend this historic event.
And still no word from the Catholic Media Office. What really does that office do?

It is, of course, another example of the the clericalism that bedevils the Church in England and Wales: "don't worry yourself about such complicated things - we always know best".
ReplyDeleteHistorically speaking, the interesting thing about the contemporary manifestation of clericalism in E&W is its extension to the Bishops' lay functionaries.
