"The face of God is that of a merciful father, who is always patient... He does not tire of forgiving us if we know how to turn to him with a contrite heart... The Lord never tires of forgiving. We are the ones who tire of asking for forgiveness." (Angelus, March 17, 2013)

Pray for Ireland
The International Eucharistic Congress begins tomorrow, Solemnity of Corpus Christi. Let us pray that Ireland will be renewed in its faith, that the Church in Ireland may once again be the beacon of light it once was. It was St Patrick's mission to bring the pagan Irish of his day to the Light of Christ. May Ireland spread that Light well beyond its borders.

When I read the document about the 2012 Eucharistic Conference I was disappointed that there appeared to be no planning for catechesis on the Mass and the Real Presence in the Eucharist after 40+ years of dismal catechesis.
ReplyDeleteAMEN!
ReplyDeleteI was in Ireland not too long ago and discovered that the ecumenical aspect was so imperative as to ignore what it truly is to be Catholic. No offense, but the Church in Ireland is caught in the 1970s with regard to music, poor catechesis and only wants the feel good factor. I know many good, orthodox Catholics who are very disappointed in the organization of this Congress. I am sure some good will come out of it, but it is a wasted opportunity for real, muscular Catholicism.
ReplyDeleteYes, as I am pretty sure I have said before, New Age-ism has infected the Church in Ireland badly. Shoddy liturgy, poor preaching... all the more reason for us to pray that the Lord will work in some way to transform Ireland once again.
